Ross Smith was born March 4, 1984, in Wyoming and graduated from Wyoming Park High School.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2002, during his senior year, and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.
While conducting combat operations near Fallujah, Iraq, on February 9, 2006, Ross was killed instantly by an improvised explosive device. He was serving on his third tour in Iraq and was only months away from completing his four-year obligation to the Armed Forces.
He is survived by his parents, Susan and Mark Smith, and two brothers, Lucas and Matt.
